Re: Canadian-/US-made car seat for Air Transat flight

After one LONG flight with an afternoon departure, we always booked night flights from then on. Worked like a charm every time. Even if it meant a long layover, it was worth it for snoring kids in...

Re: Canadian-/US-made car seat for Air Transat flight

Never flown Transat. Maybe that's a good thing. :p

Even still, it takes about two minutes to install, so it's not an inconvenience to anyone.

Re: Canadian-/US-made car seat for Air Transat flight

If it's been installed correctly, it doesn't affect them using their tray table. I've used it on multiple flights without any issues. Installing it, you drop their table, slip it over the seat,...

Re: How has your day been?

I have to get back into swimming, but like Sparkles said, I think the last time I actually did fitness swimming was oh, a decade or more ago. :o I remember getting lapped in the pool by 60 and 70...

Re: Travelling with infant to oz

 Yeah, I must be missing something. I didn't think there's room for a travel cot on the plane and the airlines have those bassinet thingies for the people who want them and book them (we did...

Re: Winter Endeth...

Just wait. You have to have the obligatory frost and wet snow during the Victoria Day weekend after everyone has enthusiastically put in all of their bedding plants.

Re: First week in Canada so far! (SK)

OMG Ituna. Regina will seem a metropolis in comparison. :D I drove through Ituna once when I was doing my fieldwork in Fort Qu'Appelle.

If you can get a decent summer (minus the crazy humidex,...

Re: Canadian-/US-made car seat for Air Transat flight

Another vote for the CARES harness. I've used it a number of times without any problem from the airlines. The only question I had about it was one flight attendant who asked me to demonstrate how...

Re: Declaration Cards and other countries.

New Zealand as well. It's similar to the Aussie one.

You also need to fill a card out when leaving Australia, not just entering....

Re: Why does Australia Post like damaging my stuff so much?

We've had this happen too. I think the redirection thing is iffy at best. We tried to let everyone know our new address from the outset, but there's always one or two that don't get changed. I can't...

Re: Australia better than Canada?

Yup, that looks like it. Edmonton had snow in the forecast for this weekend too. Oh and 60% chance of flurries for Fri the 26th of April.

Maybe, being as content and...

Re: Why does Australia Post like damaging my stuff so much?

 In my case, I can't see any other logical explanation for what happened when the package made it through customs intact but then mysteriously vanished once back in the hands of Australia...

Re: Why does Australia Post like damaging my stuff so much?

I think I posted about this when it happened two years ago, but to recap...I ordered some books through Amazon. They had tracking and made it through customs but then mysteriously vanished. No...

Re: Australia better than Canada?

We had good jobs. Smaller mortgage. Family close by. Content enough. But we looked around and said, "Wow, Edmonton. Is this it for life then?"

Kidsafe site:

One thing to keep in mind is that WA child restraint laws look lax compared to elsewhere. Forward facing babies at 6 months old?...

Re: Hotel in Edmonton

The Via Rail Station's off the Yellowhead, right?

What's your budget on hotels? I don't think there's much close by, downtown would be the best bets.

Re: Australia better than Canada?

Surely our Canadian accents must be equally awful. :p

The first sentence shows that you've become more Canadian than you'd previously realized. ;) Quick, leave now, it may be reversible.

Yeah, they're all getting to the end of the tether now with the snow just starting to melt. The posts on fb from frustrated Albertans have been amusing. "Where is spring already OMFG...aaaaaargh"...
