Moving back from Canada. Toronto area tax accountants

Hi

Am moving back from Toronto back to Blighty.

Does anyone know of any decent tax accountants in the GTA who they've dealt with first hand ? the accountant should obviously be knowledgeable...

The Toronto I.T job scene is not too good at the moment.

Myself and a few buddies all worked for Canadian companies, who out sourced to outsourcing companies (IBM, HP etc) who are now outsourcing...

Take the redundancy mate...ofcourse there isn't that much COBOL work around these days but there is work and a lack of skilled people (must of them have retired or x-trained)....You'll find something...

In my experience, the ones in Canada are as useless as the ones in England.

I am now a Canadian citizen.

Last year I had to send alot of money to my parents back in the UK to help them overcome issues caused by the credit crunch. Some of it is still in my named accounts...

I think Canada will basically match the agressive rate cuts by the US and UK won't be cutting rates so much...so I think 2.1 is possible over the next year...

I think for the immediate future the loonie will get slightly stronger (1.93'ish) but eventually I believe if/when the US cuts their rates(in March) by another 50 bps this year then Canada will...

Oxfordshire itself is not great...but Milton Keynes is reasonably close and full of businesses and IT work...London is only an hour away on the train.

Talking to some FX traders in NYC(friend of a friend)...they both seem to predict in the next 12-18 months between 1.9 and 1.85 and between 1.15 to 1.2 between the CAD and USD.
