Re: Flood tax

I can see how it can be interpreted that way. And I apologised for it and explained that it wasn't intended to be.

It was just me saying I should find out what people are on about.

Re: Anti-Americanism, Anti-Foreigners of any kind?

I never said you advocated it. I used it to highlight the benefit society gets from children (i.e. no children equals no society) which was countering the point that children only provide...

Re: Flood tax

I have nothing against tabloids or tabloid readers.

They are designed to be sensationalist so people should not be surprised when they are sensationalist.

I, in no way, think you are a tabloid...

Re: Flood tax

Wow! Apologies for coming across as a patronising snob. It wasn't intended.

I was just saying why, maybe, I don't have such an adverse reaction to this.

I'll **** off now! It's not worth...

Re: grammer and spelling police

I'm referring to the one which started your crusade. Whether it was the first or not I don't care and I'm not going back to check.

However it was arrogant and patronising. Although I don't condone...

Re: Flood tax

I must admit that I haven't noticed it being over the top but that might be down to the news sources I follow. I don't tend to follow all of them. For example, I'll follow The Age but I don't...

Re: Anti-Americanism, Anti-Foreigners of any kind?

A lot of Brits still haven't adjusted to not being the automatic rulers of the planet and none of them were even born when the UK was top dog. :D

Re: Flood tax

Maybe it depends on how you measure it. It appears that there was more inundation in Qld. Using deaths as a measure is problematic as to how many deaths were due to the disaster and how many were...

Children by themselves are not the cause of overpopulation. People living longer is also the cause of overpopulation. Better healthcare is also the cause of overpopulation. As can be seen...

Re: Anti-Americanism, Anti-Foreigners of any kind?

Not more children, just children. The point I made is that society benefits more from children than the parents in a financial sense. Without children the economics of any society would collapse. ...

Re: grammer and spelling police

You forgot one option.

- It's a great put down for people who try to big themselves up as being more intelligent than others but can't write for toffee.

I think it's time you accepted you got...

Re: Anti-Americanism, Anti-Foreigners of any kind?

I guess you missed the point. Overcrowding doesn't mean that having children is a self gratifying act. Regardless of overcrowding, society gets more benefit from children than parents.

Re: Anti-Americanism, Anti-Foreigners of any kind?

I think you find children add more to society than self gratification of the parents.

Just try running a society without children and see how you get on. Ask the Shakers how they're getting on with...

Re: Flood tax

Maybe they took their lead from the Howard government.

They introduced a few levies during their time in power. One of them was to bail out a failed airline.

Re: Savings and Interest

Admittedly I have to remind myself that I've had the use of their money when the tax bill arrives.

In Aus there is the added factor that most people get rebates and use it to put things on lay-by...
