Re: Worst suburb in Greater Vancouver/GTA
I would turn the Toronto argument completely on it's head by saying that there is almost nowhere in T.O I would want to live. With it's rundown, overpopulated, congested, overpriced and excessively...

Re: Happy Canada Day!
At least all of Canada can fly the beautiful maple flag without political agendas being raised - unlike the butcher's apron.

Re: Canada recession looming?
The UK double dipped back into recession last month. No sign of recovery there. The benefit system is about to get absolutely hammered. As usual, it's the vulnerable to get targeted and the real...

Re: What do accents say to you
I wonder if any other country similar in size to the UK, has so many different accents within. Even where I live, I can take a 5 minute drive to Bonnybridge and the accent is totally different, ken?

Re: Is it REALLY much better????
Agreed. Premium beers, good wine and spirits etc will hardly change in price. It's the rocket fuel that's cheaper than Cola which will be affected. How much of an influence it will have on...

Re: Is it REALLY much better????
The greatest thing about Glasgow is the people.
The worst thing about Glasgow is the people.
There's also an old saying that Auld Yin etc will probably know: There's no Scots like Scots...

Even so, a member since Feb 2007!!
Why do they make it so hard for decent, hard working folk to get in? I'm just back from a month, working in Toronto. I regularly traveled along Finch and...

Re: Is it REALLY much better????
Read back on your old posts chief, honestly. Your going round in circles.
It shouldn't be this difficult. If it's for you, it would happen.
Have a swig of Buckie and relax!

Re: How often does one shovel snow in the GTA?
It can be an issue. My experience was that you usually get around four weeks in the winter where it will be absolutely miserable. And I'll include in that, temperatures hovering around -20. And...

Re: How often does one shovel snow in the GTA?
The term you looking for is pie shaped lot!
The snow just has to go up the way, on top of the stuff already on your grass. You must have experienced this problem in Glasgow, winter 2010 and 2011?...

Re: it IS 2012, isn't it?
You're right. AMEX isn't a popular card in the UK. I wouldn't want to rely on one. What they are doing now is piggy backing existing VISA accounts eg. I'm with MBNA and have 2 credit cards for...

Re: How often does one shovel snow in the GTA?
They have good and bad winters in the GTA. Sometimes, like the last one, they get hardly any snow at all and others will feel like you are living in Siberia. It can be depressing when you get...

Re: Renting a car
When it comes to car insurance, Canadians like yourself deserve some sort of break!
It makes a change to hear about product value.

Re: Renting a car
Unless I'm wrong, the key here is the UK. Car hire insurance privileges on a credit card are not so freely available here. I'm with Visa and contacted them about this already only to be told that...

Re: Renting a car
The only UK credit card I'm aware of that offers car hire insurance coverage is AMEX platinum and charges £300 yearly for the honour.
However, I do appreciate your concern for my financial welfare.

From my own personal experience, having booked a rental car three times for YYZ in the last year from the UK, you will see SLI (supplementary Liability...

Re: Renting a car
When hiring a car in Canada, you should have liability insurance (third party). Some firms will refuse to give you a car unless you take theirs out (which will be extortionate) or you already have...
