Re: Spanish Driving Licence

Well, by coincidence, I've just downloaded and completed the form for "Canjes" for me and my wife.
But when I followed the procedure for a Cita Previa - which is essential as far as I know - the...

Re: Private Car Purchase - UK or Spain

Its no good. You clearly just don't get it !
The difference between 60,000 & 150,000 is the deal breaker but the other criteria were equally important.
I give in !

Re: Private Car Purchase - UK or Spain

Yes - very easy to find all those cars.
However, you have failed to notice the important criteria - 2.0 litre Executive version, automatic, petrol, less than 65,000 km, 2 owners, full service...

Re: Private Car Purchase - UK or Spain

We bought a 2007 Honda Accord Executive, leather interior 2.0 litre, petrol, automatic with 40,000 miles and 2 owners from Chesham in November.
We've been driving a RHD car here for 12 years -...

Re: Second-hand car - insurance transfer

Yes - you are possibly correct.
I sold our motorhome here this year and transferred the remaining premium balance (approx. 9 months) to the buyer who wished to continue insuring with my company -...

Re: Second-hand car - insurance transfer

The insurance becomes invalid when the ownership is transferred.

Of course, you're in that area I believe.
Thanks for that Fred.
I'll pass it on.

Internet in Malaga

On behalf of a UK friend with a home in Malaga, I'd like some recommendations for an internet supplier in that area - preferably other than Movistar, but not necessarily.
I've always found them...

Re: Suitcase locks removed by airport staff.

The point of my complaint is that I don't know why they were removed, or by whom or for what possible reason.
The fact is that everybody concerned - 3 different bodies (EasyJet, Damaged Luggage, &...

Re: Suitcase locks removed by airport staff.

Certainly not !
This was an attempt at theft, I agree.
Not a security issue.

Re: Suitcase locks removed by airport staff.

You're entitled to the opinion you state but I don't need you to tell me what mine should be.
I'm absolutely in favour of all security checks - just not the theft of locks with no explanation or...

Re: Suitcase locks removed by airport staff.

I agree absolutely - but you can never tell what some thieves will take - e.g. when our house was burgled, in addition to cash, jewellery, they took a brand new, large, energy efficient frying pan +...

Re: Suitcase locks removed by airport staff.

Both locks from 2 suitcases ?!
Please, be sensible.
No other damage, or signs of a search. But I imagine they're very careful about how they do it.
Not sure if anything has been taken - but then...

Re: Suitcase locks removed by airport staff.

Its not the security staff that concern me. Its the petty thieves in baggage handling.

Gatwick have now stated:
"All baggage is screened whilst going through the baggage area. This is completed...

Re: Suitcase locks removed by airport staff.

No, but I've heard plenty of people being called over the airport P.A.. The reason is never announced.

Re: Suitcase locks removed by airport staff.

I was unaware of that.
Please tell me where I will find that stipulation.
Neither EasyJet nor Gatwick have stated that to me despite several opportunities to dismiss the claim so simply.

Suitcase locks removed by airport staff.

We have flown all around the world, especially over the last 15years when security levels have heightened, with many major airlines and, thusfar, have never had locks removed - until our return via...

Re: Motor Home

I assume "The other condition" you refer to is relevant only to the avoidance of registration tax ?
I ask because we are about to buy a UK car and bring it straight back here.

Re: Nuisance Electricity Tripping

No, that is incorrect. But I realise it is difficult to see from my photo.
The live/neutral entering the 16 amp breaker on the bottom rail are coming from the top of the RCD. They are running down...

Re: Nuisance Electricity Tripping

For the avoidance of doubt, here is the consumer unit (if I have managed to attach it correctly) - and it appears that the RCD is connected by the live/neutral which are routed down behind everything...

Re: Nuisance Electricity Tripping

You are correct.
Inbound live & neutral go to:
1. 25amp circuit breaker
2. 25amp/30 m/Amp RCD (combination ?)
3,4,5,6,7, - other circuit breakers.

So, is it desirable / necessary to have a...

Re: Nuisance Electricity Tripping

OK, thanks for that.
So I need to find a decent Spanish electrician to run the bridge megga test.
How long does that usually take ?

Re: Nuisance Electricity Tripping

So are you suggesting 40 amp because it is easily available and cannot cause a problem being a higher rating or is it simply a better choice ?
Our local Brico stock them at about 25 euros as I...

Re: Nuisance Electricity Tripping

I'm merely following the received wisdom posted by Snikpoh, Missile etc. on this thread - who say 25 amp is only just sufficient for 5.75kW potencia. But that assumes we never get any power surges /...
