Re: Bank account auto-closed without my knowledge

Ok then.

I guess it's just me they don't like.

Since the account is now closed, I guess I'm done with them anyway.

Thanks for the responses.

Re: Bank account auto-closed without my knowledge

No point now, the account is closed. If there was a couple of grand in there I'd be bothered, but there wasn't.

Re: Bank account auto-closed without my knowledge

The PIN sentry device is a great idea and won...

Re: Bank account auto-closed without my knowledge

Who is "they"? Barclays? Or another bank.

Barclays told me a long time ago that they don't issue new debit cards when the account address is outside of the UK.

Re: Bank account auto-closed without my knowledge

That would be ok, if they allowed you to "log in". Once you live abroad, they will not send you a new debit card once the current one expires. No debit card, no access to online banking.

Bank account auto-closed without my knowledge

So I call up Barclays today. I had left my account open in case I moved back at any point, and then I wouldn't have the hassle of opening an account, proving who I was, etc. I left the UK 9 years 3...

Re: BritBox

Had Britbox for a couple of weeks now.

Since I have two Fire TV boxes I subscribed to the Amazon channel. The picture quality is a superbly stable 1080p, since it's running on Amazon's...

Re: So, my UK DNS finally died

Still no problems here with using ibVPN.

But also subscribing to Britbox now, since it's easier and you get HD picture quality.

Re: Want to move to Montana!

I did. There were plenty of days at 30 or 35 I went out in shorts.

Lowest it got was -25 for a few days, it felt cold but refreshing. I didn't have an issue with it.

Had to get a new battery...

Re: MOVING! What to sell and what to bring?

You have immediately grasped what it takes others posting this question some time to absorb - it's a crazy idea to bring stuff that only works on 230v and attempt to power it with transformers etc....

Re: What's up with the Bread here?!!

Walmart's Italian bread for $1 a loaf is the best I have found here for both sandwiches and toast.

There are more options for buns/rolls that are savory, and Walmart also does good ones of those...

Re: Things you'll never say...

Yeah that one grates on me too. And no I will never say it either.

But there are worse. Such as using the word "disappear" as a transitive verb.

E.g. "The government disappear people they don't...

Re: Credit - AMEX and the next step...

Indeed.

If you have $10,000,000 in the bank and so you don't use credit because you don't need to .... your score goes down.

If you don't repeatedly run up debt and pay it off on schedule .......

Plan on selling TVs, game consoles,...
