Re: Wife changed her mind

So what? We can only give experiences of where we have lived and as this is the Australia forum, oddly enough the vast majority of experiences are going to be about Australia!
However if YOU want to...

Re: Wife changed her mind

I'm not posting loads of details cos its all on the forum already, but I moved from a pretty good life in the UK to marry an Aussie, a move I quickly regretted. There's a thread on here, years ago...

Re: Shipping Pets

Plenty of companies like that in Canada, and lots of threads on the subject in the Canadian forums :) Much less stress than doing it yourself, I agree!

Re: Citizenship character requirement/time elapsed

WIlling to be corrected if anyone has a different experience, but I don't think I've ever come across anyone who got approval on the same day as the test itself, and there's always been a physical...

Re: Express reasons for denial not applicable/ elapsed 5 months

DIBP is one of many now-outdated names for the immigration department. I think they are currently known as Department of Home Affairs (this week at least).

I don't think you'll find anyone on here...

Re: Shipping Pets

There are a lot of threads in the Australia forums about shipping pets which should give you some general info, and names of companies such as Jetpets or Petair, who would be able to answer your...

Re: Wife changed her mind

Holidaying in Aus is so very different from day to day life, plus Australia has changed a lot, not least regarding rising costs, since 2012.

A few things to ponder:
You want to give you son a...

Re: Psychology Degree

Barton-on-Sea is a lovely spot, isn't it. I adore spending time watching the sea here, seeing how the colours and the waves change constantly, and watching sunsets is always a joy. I agree it seems...

Re: feeling the stress getting ready to move back to the UK ( Scotland)

Another alternative then would be to simply not register with a GP until you have a longer term address. Especially as you may find a GP more conveniently located once you have a long term address....

Re: feeling the stress getting ready to move back to the UK ( Scotland)

How would the doctor know it was an Airbnb unless you tell them? Just give them the address of the place, they wouldn't know whether its your own place or a short term let.

Re: Household bills.

I can't give you the actual costs for oil fired, but my sister has it at her house in Wales, and the cost of filling the tank is apparently "crippling". I don't think its very common unless you are...

Re: feeling the stress getting ready to move back to the UK ( Scotland)

Thats exactly how I did it, a huge spreadsheet, with different colours, and moving things to a second sheet as they were done. Second spreadsheet to keep track of the packing & shipping for the TOR....

I used to have a similar conversation with people (including my ex) when I lived in Australia. I've always believed in buying in bulk if it makes things cheaper - if its stuff you will use anyway...

Re: London -> Central Coast NSW

Yes, your visa grant notice will have a "must enter By XXX" date on it, usually within 12 months. You just need to visit Australia before that date to validate it.

Re: London -> Central Coast NSW

Be prepared for it to come through quicker than expected - some #)(/100s are being granted very quickly these days for applicants from the UK.
Also you should get a 100 straight...

Re: Shipping company quote confusion - help!
