Re: East vs West

Well, what I've read so far hasn't put us off the "theory" of moving East. If we ever do move it would likely be 2 years hence. Although the youngest sporn is at boarding school, proximity to her is...

Re: East vs West

a consequence of my previous work role was that I spent far too much time in LA and California in general. I’m one of those rare people who really doesn’t like that climate. So, to live near the...

Re: Express entry profile question

Being eligible for EE is one thing, but you do understand it's a 2 stage process? Lots of people are eligible to apply for EE, it's the CRS score (is that the right letters?), that is all important....

Re: Advice for someone just starting out on the immigration journey!

Although we live in a beautiful part of BC (vancouver Island), and we're on the coast, I wouldn't say it's any easier to hike and do outdoorsy things here than it was in the UK. There are no bridle...

Re: Apply for immigration before marriage

These questions invariably come down to the same elephant in the room consideration: are you or your partner eligible for a visa in the first place? If the answer to this question is "no" then the...

Re: Canadian Education System

Re: PR Landing

Wwhen we "landed" to activate our PR cards (some years ago now), we gave the address of some friends in Canada. The cards were sent there and they forwarded them to us.

Re: Travelling to UK for work

Let’s see - we’d certainly still have ties with Canada. We own our house here. We have another child here (Canada) at boarding school. The York Uni is the one in the UK. We have investments in...

Re: FSW vs CRS score - would I qualify?

Christmasoompa is the guru on scores and eligibility. I'm no expert, but my understanding is that 447 points will still not be enough. You may find securing a job to get the extra points will be a...

Re: Travelling to UK for work

Yes, I'm born and bred British. I also hold a Canadian passport. I think you're all right - it's the tax question I'd have to look at. I'd be looking at a 1 or two year period, so definitely tax...
