Re: Civil Surgeon in Minneapolis area?

I haven't heard of anything like that in the Mpls area. I've had several friends go through the process and they haven't had anything negative to say about the CSs they used.

My husband went to a...

Re: citizen questions

My husband took the test in August and was incredibly paranoid about the knowledge test. Even though he had been studying the questions non-stop and could recite the questions and answers perfectly,...

Re: Signature ? on Certificate of Naturalization

Thanks for the links - but issue is still as clear as mud to me. Perhaps we'll do what you did and just take the unsigned certificate to the passport office and see what they say.

Re: Signature ? on Certificate of Naturalization

Thank you, MarylandNed - I think that is the route we will likely take. After he gets his US passport, he won't really need the certificate for much so as long as it is sufficient for that, I won't...

Re: N-400 Post your individual journey please! v.2011

The local English DJ whose family was seated near me did an interview about his process - - I thought I'd share it:

Husband...

Re: N-400 Post your individual journey please! v.2011

Husband became a naturalized citizen yesterday!!

It was a great, but exhausting day. The ceremony was downtown at the convention center - so I anticipated it would be bigger than usual, but I...

Signature ? on Certificate of Naturalization

My husband became a Naturalized US citizen yesterday! It was a HUGE ceremony with 1509 new citizens from 100 different countries.

Because of its size, things may have run differently...

Re: N-400 Post your individual journey please! v.2011

I'd rather spend an extra 20 minutes in the car than have to spend $200 on a downtown hotel room. Is complaining about traffic not allowed? I thought it was a universal complaint - especially urban...

Re: N-400 Post your individual journey please! v.2011

We live probably 20 minutes away, so it isn't a distance thing - it is just that all routes to get there have bad traffic congestion at that time of day (bottle-necking into downtown). But, what can...

Re: N-400 Post your individual journey please! v.2011

Things just keep speeding along for us - - got the notice for the oath ceremony yesterday and husband is scheduled for September 6th!

I think it will be a large crowd as it is at the convention...

Re: N-400 Post your individual journey please! v.2011

Husband had his interview yesterday and all went well - even if he was a nervous wreck before hand.

We waited for over 30 minutes (appointment at 3, arrived probably around 2:50 and he didn't get...

Re: N-400 Post your individual journey please! v.2011

Congrats!!!

My husband's interview is tomorrow and he is more than ready, but still nervous as all get out. I've decided to treat him (after a presumed successful interview:fingerscrossed:) to...

Re: Need first hand info on WI

I don't live there, but my sister and her family does. They live in Milwaukee proper, but in a little area that sticks up in the Wauwautosa. They LOVE the area and my sister is very much into outdoor...

Re: Oath ceremony

oooh - a national park would be a wonderful setting for the ceremony! I hope you can make it work!

We plan on asking at DH's interview (well, he plans to ask) if we can get a ceremony time during...

Re: Music Graduate (Musician/Teacher) Wanting To Move USA

What makes you think there are a lot of jobs out there for musicians? Believe me, that is far from the case! My husband is a professional musician/teacher with over a decade of experience and he...

Re: Multiple Passport/ Citizenship Question

My husband's mother is French (living in the UK for the past 40 years, but never became a UKC) and as such, my husband had (has??) French citizenship and a passport. For whatever reason, when he...

Re: N-400 Post your individual journey please! v.2011

Very good to know - thank you! We've decided that my passport should suffice (if they look at anything at all). My father thought he'd found my birth certificate, but it was actually my record of...

Re: Attorney at Immigration Interview?

Exactly - it is useless and can cause undue confusion and frustration if USCIS comes across it. I'm just repeating what our immigration attorney told us when I asked (because we were leaving the...

Re: Attorney at Immigration Interview?

We had our attorney present at our interview - but didn't pay an extra fee as it was included in his base fee. It helped provide peace of mind, but he really didn't do anything except listen to our...

Re: N-400 Post your individual journey please! v.2011

The 2 hours isn't for the oath ceremony but for the naturalization interview (civic questions, reading/writing test). If it was meant to include the ceremony, then I could see how it would take two...

Re: Name change with N-400 - what happens to other citizenships?

Just as a practical matter, wouldn't having different names in different passports make booking a flight difficult as the name on the ticket must match the name on your passport? How would you...
