We had bought a car in that time frame, so can't comment on that, but I will say study the handbook as there are some odd (to me, at least) questions on the test. There are some sample tests online...

In my experience TA here and there, there is a greater emphasis on phonetics in UK because there "can" be, here, certainly where I live, it would be harder, for example pin and pen are pronounced...
