Re: CR-1 Spouse visa approved today !

Someone already said this, but I didn't have to attend with my British husband.. it just felt like we had been a team all along and I wanted to go as well. Plus, it gave me the chance to explain the...

Re: I-130 approved in less than 3 weeks?

Just a quick update -- our AOS and Immigrant Application have been checked by the NVC in the US and they've confirmed that they're now sending everything to the London Embassy now. So it looks like...

Re: ILR as returning resident / spouse

I called the UKBA helpline today to confirm, and the representative said that it was 3 years from when I was granted leave as a partner and that my time as a PSW doesn't count.

I know that the US...

Re: ILR as returning resident / spouse

I actually did go through the entire naturalisation guide (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/nationality/guide_an.pdf) and form this morning. I suppose I didn't read the...

Re: ILR as returning resident / spouse

Thanks for the reply. We were only married in March 2012, so I'd have to wait three years from then (or since ILR -- not sure).

I'm desperate to return to the US (albeit temporarily) for family...

Re: I-130 approved in less than 3 weeks?

I had another rant blurb about how the helpline told me I had to send the petition to Chicago even though we both live the UK.. and I'm pretty sure she was plain wrong.

I think this mistake actually...

Re: Annoyed that the visa helpline misled me..

I'm not sure - I tend to do that. However, I think that the forms had (at the time) expired and the new ones had not yet been published. I only asked about 3 questions.. and I thought confirming...

Annoyed that the visa helpline mislead me..

I just wanted to warn people to be very careful about the advice they get through the telephone helpline.

I was specifically told that although both my husband and I live in the UK, I had to file my...

Re: AliciaPhil79's Proof of Domicile Questions

Thought I would mention this here as it is the most recent domicile post..

Do you think that the fact that your UK visa will expire soon is (one bit of) proof of intent to domicile? Granted, I could...

Re: I-864 tax question

Thanks.. I was definitely supposed to file taxes. I've never done anything like this, so I'm off for a very, very long Google session starting with the basics :-/

I-864 tax question

My I-130 has been approved so I am pulling together all of the information for the I-864 Affidavit of Support, but am a bit stick on the tax returns question.

We currently both live in the UK. As...

Re: I-130 approved in less than 3 weeks?

The only thing is that.. I called the help line to confirm whether I should send it to Chicago or London (the instructions say either/or). They said that they got rid of those types of field offices...

"When both the beneficiary and the petitioner live abroad, the...

I am slightly confused..

I mailed out my I-130 package on March 24th, sent from London to the Chicago Lockbox. I received a letter in the post that said it was received on April 3rd.

On April 6th...
