Many hospitals/ healthcare companies are 501(c)3 corporations, which quite often are tax exempt. I'm sure you could find your provider on this search tool.

It's sometimes confusing distinguishing between a non-profit and a charity. Both want you to give money to them, both will allow you to write off donations against taxes.

Not in all States, the biggest health providers in my state are both not-for-profit companies. It does not mean they are not wasteful and spend millions on advertising, but they don't publish...

I can give charitable donations to my work, yet they can afford several million dollars a year to put their name on a stadium. Non-profits are sometimes just wasteful.

I think there is as much a divide across the different States as there is between the UK and the US. California is very left and has several support networks and attitudes.
