I bought a chromecast a couple of months ago and have got it to work just the once. Mostly it just connects then disconnects within seconds.....

I bought a Chromecast about 3 months ago: I got it working after several hours' tinkering but that only lasted an hour and after that it refused to connect again. Same to present day.

Exactly - that's one of the ones I was thinking of (although I haven't seen it.)

IIRC the clue they needed with Enigma was the fact that the UBoats sent weather reports at specified times. Weather...

I haven't used this, but I am a great fan of Logitech. They do well made things that do just what you want.

I find the BBC TV site is dreadful - even if you manage to find the right page and program, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I've hacked DVD players to make them multiregional but if I've got it right they are locked in software whereas BluRay players have hardware locking so are not amenable to change.

Agreed. The ITV player works pretty well on my nominally 1.4MBs connection (actually around 1.2MBs down / .25MBs up) but BBC buffers continually.
