i think you are refering to the contracting market where an agency pays you minus their cut from the client. Yes, you are right that perhaps a bit too much is being pocketed however do also think...

thanks weasel central - the main point I was making was that as much as you may hate them and however unprofessional "some" may be, you can decide not to deal with them or go in with your eyes wide...

if you look hard enough you may get some recruiter in the UAE who can promise you all that and more if you send across your CV.

depends on your definition of a profession - i agree there are no formal qualifications / certifications needed however is still a service provided that is very much needed and in demand.

to be honest there is nothing like a "Senior Recruitment Consultant" you can have 1 or 10+ years experience and you will be doing the same thing but obviously I would like to think the more...

I managed to get a commercial bank account (Barclays) when we setup our company with one of the FreeZones. I think its setup as an offshore account which does not require a residence visa

I tend to visit my big clients 3 / 4 times a year as well as some senior candidates ($200K+) I think I would certainly have an advantage if I was on the ground but to be honest the success level...

I have used these Indian RPO firms without much luck, I find it far more cost-effective having someone who is solely working on my requirements on a full time basis - this way they can add more...

I'm based in the UK running my UAE registered company and working ME hours (means I am in the office 5am UK time) The market I am in (IT and Telco) is really active. About 50% of my work is in KSA...

I know recruitment firms in dubai who have this policy where you need to spend x time on the phone, send x cv's per day, achieve x interviews per week etc....

You simply cannot set these numbers...

It certainly is a tough job - I think the key thing is to have a "consultative" approach. A good recruiter will take time in understanding a requirement and be well positioned to subconsciously know...
