I think 60 must be the older equivalent of 20 - neither one nor the other.

19 is a great age as you're still a teenager but into adulthood.

20, no longer a teenager but still short of "21"...

Funny thing, googling life expectancy gives UK @ 81.60, USA 78.74 and Canada 82.14.

Presumably none of those factors have been built in though.

Best to think of it as different. I'm hopeful of making a European trip next year but it saddens me to think it's not so easy to see it regularly. So, rather than think of Canada as second best I try...

My dad died when he was 52. Getting past that was more of a milestone for me than the normal age points, even though two older brothers went past it before I did.

Careers are overrated.

Excellent points.

I actually quite like Canada's use of "Senior" rather than OAP or pensioner.

As an aside, I get super irritated when the word is used to garner undue sympathy and its side...

I read this so much - in Canada, not just Ontario - that there must be something in it (UK too). At the same time you always read of an acceptance that older folk have things to offer that younger...
