I don't have air con, I just have to put up with the heat. When it gets cold i put on more layers, but as I have a small electric heater for the coldest nights here I guess I do spend more on heating...

Define "better standard of life" though....the age old quandry, what is better for one isn't so for another. Give me the cold, rain and grey skies anyday instead of endless heat and humidity :thumbup:

You really sould do it. Very different to the mainland, and quite do-able in relative comfort if you don;t want to do the cheap route round the island :D

Sat on the ideal beach today - pobably the first beach I've sat on in 5-6 years :D Three other people at the far end - about a mile away, sun, bue sky and sea, little breeze, picnic. Heaven. ...

Define lovely weather, thats totally subjective, as is "not that hot".

for instance I am currently in tassie, reality is 10 months of the year 20 degrees-ish, fair...

Sounds like a fair enough description. Our mid week drining nights used to end at 8 quite often cos the pubs were closing in the CBD then. Kebab on the way home? No chance, Noodles from the 7-11 were...
