No, you don't 100% need your old passport, or need an visa sticker, but the physical item is handy and may reduce wait times. Its all electronic and you can manage without either but to be on the...

You go to your nearest DIAC office, with both passports (old and new) and ask for new stickers :)

If your flight is that soon I think it would be a risk. Its very quick to do the renewal over here in Aus; if you do it through the UK you are far more at the mercy of the mail and stuff can easily...

Same here - even though my arch-enemy at Aus Post tried to tell me it was illegal to have the same photo on both UK and Aus passports :rofl: :rolleyes:

The baby doesn't automatically get an Aussie passport, but does automatically get Aussie citizenship. You then need to apply for an Aussie passport - should arrive in time but...

you have to apply through Australia Post as per the links on the thread. I think they are now sent to the UK, but you don't need to do it, Aus Post does it for you.

They are done in NZ. See the first post of the thread for the link. Have to be applied for through Aus Post :)

If they know you are living in Aus they will tell you to apply here. However if the application is done with a UK return address then the Passport Office won't know where you're living.Several Aus...

The only one they are supposed to charge for is a RRV, thats singled out on the list of fees as being chargeable, around $60 I think when i last looked.

Yep, any DIAC office will put a label in a new passport for free if you go in to their offices. Its not essential but can make life easier when people ask to see the visa - rental agents, phone...

He should be fine to board with both passports and the old label, but allow time at check-in in case the staff want to verify with DIAC. When he gets back to Aus if he wants a label just take both...

Your PR is of no interest to the UK Passport Office. When you get the new (and old) passports back you take them both to your local DIAC office and they'll put a new sticker into the new passport for...
