It was 99c a gallon in 1999 in Georgia - I took a photo because it was the only place I saw petrol for under a dollar a gallon.

Is that a nationwide thing? They just did that in Maine too. Couldn't they have waited till April when it goes above freezing?

It's not good when the temp in Portland OR is lower than the temp in Portland ME, eh?

I'm cheering on the fall in heating oil prices too. Today it went above freezing for the first time since......

Now that winter has arrived it's the price of heating oil I'm feeling happy about. $1.79 a gallon today :) Please let it stay low till next April. I spent $2750 on heating oil last year.

I got studded snow tyres for last winter in Maine and never regretted it. My fuel consumption went up a tad but not much - probably lost about 3mpg.

It's when I can't see the telegraph poles for the snow that I really start worrying :rofl:

It's amazing how fast they clear snow here though. We had 9 feet of snow last winter and only had 5 snow...

After my grocery shopping the other day I've got a 60c discount so I'll be filling up for $1.23 a gallon tomorrow.

I did have to spend $300 to get the discount though ;)

I was eyeing up the Monte Carlo on the classic car dealership's lot...

But I need petrol to go below $1 a gallon and STAY THERE if I'm going to buy it. Brings back very happy memories.

In 1999/2000 I drove 13,000 miles around the US, from Vermont to Florida to Texas/Mexico border to Colorado to Vegas to Seattle. In that time the only place I saw gas below $1 a gallon was in Georgia...

Me neither - BP and Mobil obviously, but none of the others. But then I'm from Maine and most of the rest of America is a long long way away.

If gas goes down below 99c I'm going to buy another...

When I arrived June 07 it was $2.99. It dropped to $2.75 and I congratulated myself on my purchase of a 20mpg Honda Odyssey.

Then it went up... :(

I remember seeing gas for 99c a gallon in...

I paid $2.99 in Boston yesterday but it's more like $3.25 in Maine.

BTW Bob the system really does suck doesn't it? :curse:
