we challenged this and still have to go to Tax Court on the remaining $8k because my husband was not working, he was fired when he had to return to duty in the UK following his three year career...

Just to be clear. I have spoken at length to My CRA manager and this has been processed through their legal department, so in their eyes is correct. As with all legislation, one can read into it...

I agree that it would be dumb to take less than the 25% maximum Tax free lump sum. We have known of many Police officers who have retired and died within a couple of years, which if they opted not...
