Went from 1.81 to 1.82

I wish it was 3:1 as we could be selling our UK house, but somehow i don't think its gonna reach even 2:1 for a long time

I think that could be the most sensible and accurate punt in this thread for many a page.

MrCro, you also predicted a resurgency in the £ when it sat just below the 2.00 mark.

Its really a matter of scale, and therefore depends on how much you are bringing over.

If you are bringing over a few thousand pounds to tide you over till you get your Aus Financial fluidity,...

The normal rate you quote was only normal when the UK was a stronger country economically.
Now that is not, this is the normal rate.

Recovery is definately possible, but i dont see a quick fix
...

Move back to the UK as a retiree.
Make a few quid, live back in the dull, dark, long winters.
As a retiree, living off investments at 0.5% interest rates.

People on here have been trying to play the game and stating that the Au $ will go to $2.4 - 2.5 to the £ ( at the time it was 2.10 )

Guys you have to remember that $2.7 was the blip, not what you see now.

What is happening now is the stabilising of currency due to the global economic positions of each nation.
