the "how long to land question" is problematic. it isn't so much how long it takes them to process you , but how many people are in front of you :)

land at a quiet time and you could be in and out...

You have to land at your first port of entry
flying from Van to Calgary , you'll fly as domestic , so no opportunity to land even if you wanted to
