The fundamental problem with the NHS in the UK is that GPs are basically the only entry way into the NHS. If you've got a big boil on your neck, you can't make an appointment to see an NHS boil...

Sales of beer & barbecues, train and air tickets twice the price as normal, roads heaving, pubs jammed... surely that is counted when determining the 'cost' of a holiday?

It's also sadly true that the minimum wage creates an effective maximum wage at the bottom end of the market.

At the upper end though, it is just shameless what is happening to academic salaries...
