Hey Cathy, nice to see you back, I think this thread was just getting too bogged down with chit chat not relative to moving to Tassie, and I know for me I couldn't keep up with it all.

We aren't taking Jess with us as we would be out and about too much and wouldn't like to leave her chained up at the site. But yes if you are camping in a conservation area you can take dogs, but...

We have an Oztrail canvas tent, they are about $1000-$1200 dollars but big and roomy for a long vacation as well as an Oztrail Gazebo with walls for our kitchen/dining area. A good investment. but...

Hi Sammy T,

It can be quite hard to get a spot in a Caravan Park if you leave it too late to book, but after last year camping at Stanley I don't think I will use a caravan park again in peak...

Tasmania schools break up today for two weeks. Then it's a long 3 months till Xmas hols.

Enjoy your mornings, once the bump is out that will all be over!

Hi Corrinne, Yes we still love Huonville, winter was not so bad a few frozen starts but that's to be expected. The garden is starting to flower with jonquils and daffodils, so pretty.

^^^^ again it would depend on where you shop, Coles, Woolworths, Kmart Big W, Target - all their prices are the same nationwide - go to the little corner store run by the local chinese family and yes...

My Daughter's are in St. James School at Cygnet. It's a very good school.

Mum hasn't done very well with the move, today she was admitted to a Nursing Home. For the best I think.

Tasmania is divided pretty evenly between the pro-logging people - (income, infrastructure, jobs, future) - and the Greens (keeping old growth forests, environment, tourism, etc) - just depends...

Are you looking at Blackmans Bay state school? There is another expat family that live near there and their girls go to that school and they are very pleased with it.

I think that minerals clause is Australian wide, I remember something like that when we bought in Queensland, as well as in Western Australia

Hi Ian, Yes the river is starting to flood, but only into it's usual flood plains (?) I am up high, but the best part is my work is on the other side of the river so hopefully I might get some days...

Have you heard if you get snow in Magra? Apparently it's only happened a few times in Huonville, but we get snowed in due to it being on the range!
