I exchange e-mails with Custom House this week to get their views on the exchange rate over the next 8-12 months. This was their reply:

"It seems likely that the GBP will get slightly worse...

How come it drops that much that quickly, but takes forever to creep back up again ?? And yes, I was one of those people holding out for a slightly higher rate !

Yeah I saw that too. Funny really, when I first signed up to Moneycorp I was told that hey could give advice as to the future exchange rate ..........

I had to change up money today for our house purchase. I got 1.9028 from Moneycorp. I asked them about short to medium term rates, and they were predicting a decline to mid 1.80s. Not sure how...

I'm doing the same - have offered an 'open' mortgage for up to 5 years at 4.1%, so will take that and only change up some money, which I have to do in the next couple of weeks.

Granted, but the net rate 7% is still higher than the net rate on the 4.75% I'm currently getting

We close on our house n 25th September, so need to get some money out here by then. I think we're going to take out a line of credit over here to hedge our bets somewhat and hope that the rates...

I don't remember it being too bad - I think we set it up online and they carried our some electronic searches so we weren't hassled by it. We then got a call from someone to tell us it was all set up...
