Not sure if it's widespread but a couple companies I worked at used vacation time used in part if their decision to promote.

Those who took vacation off tended to not be promoted as quickly.

To me vacation means travel and doing something away from home. If I could not afford to go somewhere or do something on my vacation, I just didn't take it, and collected the extra pay at the end of...

I've surveyed folks in the US on FB and got 9 replies
