I know I have been able to buy everything I've wanted to this year without a credit card. And I've just spend the best part of $6k on a trip to the UK.

Mostly gadgets etc. Nothing major, as I didn't get chance to do much shopping because of getting stuck in the damn snow!! :sneaky: Kinda ruined my plans :( plus everywhere was so busy when I did go...

Well I picked the wrong day to change my money didn't I :(:D

Ended up getting 58.7p (including an adjustment for the fee) - the XE.com rate was just over 61p

I booked $1000 worth of currency from the ANZ last week at 60.05p - the XE.com rate was just under 62p.

I don't know against the pound, but I heard talks on the radio this morning that they are 'expecting' the Aussie dollar to reach parity with the US dollar in the next few weeks. They being the banks

Yes, I can well believe that, I have seen some of the contracts! (I work for the company who are building the Desal Plant, albeit I am based on a different project in SA ;))

It's not an easy choice is it. I'm glad we didn't really have the choice - we had to bring all our money because we didn't have a lot, and we couldn't really keep anything back for if we wanted to...

I know someone who was advised that a couple of years back by a lot of people on here. So that's what they did.

They are now sat in Australia with all their money in the UK wishing they'd have...
