Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

I have never heard of them, but I would say what have you got to lose by going on their list? unless they are asking for money to put you on the database (then I would say don't touch them with a...

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

So say you earn $4000 a month, but can salary sacrifice your...

Electrician - between $20 and $25 per hour while waiting for a licence, $25 - $35 with a full licence. Obviously more if you are a contractor.

Take a look in the electricians forum for more info...

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

I based it on the assumption that you were single, so took an extra 1% medicare levy off your total income (or $1,000).

If you are a family you can have a combined income of $100k before you pay...

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

That works out approx $1350 per week after tax, that assumes you are single and do not have private health cover.

Whether or not that is a good wage really depends, and because I do not live in...

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

I think you will be alright on that - we currently get around $2200 on average and manage fine. Although you will have to be a bit more careful than us as it can be expensive at first, mainly because...

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

£13k will be the international rate which they would have to pay on a student visa. If they did the same course in the UK it would be much less, but then it would take a lot longer to get here....

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

Super is Superannuation, and yes it's a pension. If you work for an employer, they have to pay this to a fund of your choice and the minimum they can pay is 9%. Some jobs will say including super (so...

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

General skilled migration visa's are only for those under 45 years of age. Some sponsored visa's like the RSMS and ENS have an age exemption, so you'd need to look at them. Obviously he would need an...

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

Have just been looking for you. I didn't have any joy, but thought this might interest you ;)

Apply, and see what the salary is. You might also get a job out of it before you come over :)

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

There is a job in brisbane advertising $40 - $50k per year, plus super. It's the only one I could find with a salary mentioned, but it should give you some idea. :)

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

Sounds dodgy to me mate. Get a second opinion from another agent. On a student visa you are only allowed to work 20 hours per week during term time, and if you don't attend you could be kicked off...

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

Electricians with full licence can earn anything from $25 - $35 per hour (might be more in Sydney, but don't quote me on that) working for someone else. As a contactor it would be much more, but you...

I know there is a lot of plumbers that just can't get licenced once they get...

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

I agree. A family of 5 with a $400k mortgage would not survive well on $50k, even with Family Tax Benefit on top it would be a struggle.

A $400k mortage would be approx $650 per week, wage...

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

On $50k per year it is pretty borderline. You would qualify for family tax benefit and rent assistance (www.centrelink.gov.au (http://www.centrelink.gov.au)) which would help a little. However if you...

Re: the official jobs/wages thread...

Can't say if it's a good salary for Melbourne I'm afraid as we live in SA and I know that housing etc is cheaper here. We...
