Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.

I had mum over on the visitor visa for 12 months, we had to do a federal police check as she'd been here so long. Seems to be a fairly common thing to do. You can extend the stay longer than 12...

Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.

Visa grant letter was issued on Dec 22... just a few days after having paid for it in Paris. Turns out to be quite easy in the end... if you know what you're doing!

Now for...

Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.

The plan with Berlin is that they will post back the receipt to mum in Paris - hopefully they'll do that all today when they receive the fax and payment details. She then DHLs it to Perth.

Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.

Thanks for the advice Matt. We did say to mum in no uncertain terms she was to get a pink, or other receipt (apparently they are changing their receipting system) and not to leave the embassy until...

Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.

What a disastrous evening. Mum-in-law went to the embassy in Paris with a bank cheque armed with a stream of papers printed off. Only to be told they would not take the cheque, despite what it says...

Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.

i did my AOS in Sydney, got an appointment within 10 days. I was told only the one in the city can do the AOS (presumably that's for metropolitan Sydney only though). I suspect donov' may have...

Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.

$285 per week? That is incredible, maybe there's something to be said for SA? We're paying $720 for a 3 bed prefab in Sydney. I remember going to see one of my great aunts living in a prefab in...

Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.

There is still an advantage, we should save around $2000 by paying in Euros. whilst the £ has fallen against pretty much everything (but not to worry i hear the british government are saying the...

Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.

We were getting very fidgety today so rang the office for an update, only to be told we could not talk to the CO as we had not filled out the paper to allow us to talk on behalf of the Mother-in-law....

Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.

Is it just me or does this last leg seem to take the longest (well apart from the 18...

Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.

Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.

Ha gotta love this thread, seems to break all the rules but just works!

So, appreciate if anyone has some advice on this. Things are getting a bit tight with the application for a 143 PVC for my...
