Re: The Melbourne thread

No we live in The Basin, right on the edge of the Dandenong Ranges and 45 mins from the city. It is semi-rural, but much smaller than Berwick. We like that as we know so many people in the village...

Re: The Melbourne thread

Crikey, 45kms per hr is pretty good in rush hour - is that Monash or Nepean? It used to take us about 45 mins from Aspendale outside rush hour, but the Nepean is pretty much stop-start with all the...

Re: The Melbourne thread

I was surprised how many commute from Mount Evelyn - we got caught in the traffic on our way to Amelia's school concert. It maybe 36km out, but there are some cheap properties there with decent...

Re: The Melbourne thread

Some of the hill villages are beautiful - the foothills offer good value for money with a great atmosphere and range from 45 mins - 1 hour commute (maybe more in rush hour, unless you jump on the...

And I'm not joking - Lor dragged me along (you know what she's like :sneaky:). I had no idea the women of The Basin were so...

Re: The Melbourne thread

Hi Tracey

We actually spent our first 5 months here around Chelsea. Bear in mind, it's only a couple of kms nearer the city than Ferntree etc. I liked it - beautiful beach - but didn't really...

Re: [MELBOURNE] Modern movers heading downtown, or up north

Sums it up for us too! I can't imagine being happier anywhere else. We still need to do a fair bit of work on the house, but it has soul (man ;)) and a settled, happy aura

Re: The Melbourne thread

It is a great spot - a real hidden gem. Being in such an interesting village community has made settling very easy.

Good to hear the fire station is well-equipped - let's hope we don't need to...

Re: The Melbourne thread

If anyone's working on a tighter budget - we stayed in a 2-bed cabin (clean and functional) for $265 a week (Feb-March) at Chelsea Caravan Park. No broadband of course, but pool onsite and 5 min...

Re: The Melbourne thread

We stayed in a 2 bed fully self-contained cabin at Chelsea Caravan Park when we arrived. I think, as we stayed for over 4 weeks, it was around $260a week in Feb/March 06.
