Yep, this is exactly what I had to do with my car. It was the same and as I mentioned I had owned for seven years! Had to get letters for my employer for every overseas business trip and documents...

You really need to read the documents from DOTARS mate.

The 12 month rule is not a joke to them. The point of the rule is to try and stop people importing new cars and selling them for a profit....
