Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

Not this year, but have been on plenty of other years (excpt for the dog!). I used to just ignore the fact it was Christmas - but I know that's not always easy.

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

Somewhere in the middle of CelticSpirit's post she said "I am not trying to be judgmental here" ... maybe you didn't see it.

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

Emma Thompson is alive and well (I think someone referred to her a few posts back).

Maybe you are thinking of Liam Neeson's wife Natasha Richardson (one of the Redgrave sisters) who died after a...

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

No, we do the ecologically responsible thing and either compost or recycle food waste.

Garbage disposals are a ridiculously indulgent, wasteful and lazy piece of machinery that only serve to gunk...

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

That's another reason I switched her to it. She is an almost-14-year-old Lab, but still runs like the wind on our daily walk. Maybe a slightly slower wind than in her former days, but she is...

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

Another good dog food here is Burns. Suzy is pretty intolerant to a lot of foods (stuff like Bakers is the canine equivalent of Kentucky Fried Chicken, anyway), and although Wellbeloved was fine for...

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

ED:

I think your words are particularly relevant to anyone coming back to the UK at the moment. Not only is coming back a culture shock in "normal" times, the challenges of finding a job,...

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

Nothing to lose, everything to gain - go for it, and don't be afraid to hardball the negotiations (re: relocation expenses, etc.). They wouldn't have offered you the position if they didn't really...

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

They should be locked up and made to listen to hours of boring lectures on political evolution since the turn of the century and then write an evaluative piece using grounded theory to develop a...

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

Unfortunately, I can definitely believe it. :(

I try to keep anything sweet out of the house, or it disappears (and I don't mean in a puff of smoke). We in the UK are just too good at making all...

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

Mainly a weather thing, but also lack of easy access to exercise opportunities (I used to work in a university facility with exercise equipment and an indoor track), much worse riding conditions (I...

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

Not me. I haven't ever had a lot of body fat, but my level of physical activity has decreased considerably since I came back, and I find the cold weather makes me more likely to eat comfort food....

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

That's odd, I can't think what happened - unless it has pasted as a miniscule font that you can't see. After pasting as unformatted text, hit Ctrl-A (select all) and see if there's anything there,...

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

Not sure what you mean exactly by "It didn't work" - nothing happened, or you got an error message, or you couldn't find the commands I listed? Or it came out looking all wrong?

What version of...

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

Have you tried "Paste special" and then choose "unformatted text"? It may be trying to paste as a picture or HTML, which takes a lot more memory.

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

Crikey, that amount is unbelievable. It seems this stuff should be easier to deal with, without having to bankrupt yourself to sort it out. I used to use Turbotax in the US, which cost about $40 a...

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

I did my second teaching practice at Idsal School, Shifnal, and a lot of our teaching practice schools were in Shropshire.

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

Re: OVER 50's & 60's MOVING BACK TO THE UK.

If you are a USC, then you have to file every year, forever. If you are an LPR, I think you have to file for a period of 5 years, or something like that.

FYI, pensioners in the UK have a larger...
