Well it's the only place where I've openly seen Irish mob running protection rackets and have seen a street of fire bombed...

Though they are small city/towns....bit pricey. Very nice though. The minuteman trail is lovely for a walk/cycle towards Boston.

Portland, Maine?

It's cheaper than Boston, by a fair bit but close enough in the car or train and has public transport around town.

Would realistically still need a car to get around further...
