OK so I did purchase the season ticket but it has not yet arrived and its valid from tomorrow.... so tomorrow, because the postie is unlikely to be earlier than I have to head off, I will have to buy...

I managed to open a bank account, woo! And I got paid for my last month too, but I'm still waiting for the debit card to arrive. But I feel much better already. Can't wait to purchase that season...

That's right, you can't even buy a bottle of water at a vending machine without a Dutch PIN card! They don't even take coins! It drives me nuts.

Yes, but only if you already have a personal chipkaart, which, if you don't yet, you have to order online and pay for it online, and for those Visas aren't accepted.

Yes, the reason for the lack of an account is because I didn't get the BSN right away, I was told that I would receive it by post. I was told by my colleagues that you can't open a bank account...

I heard that it's because they refuse Visa and Mastercard to make money on their transactions, so they made up their own, which is a logical explanation at least, but I'm still annoyed at how many...

It's true that the British rail service also breaks down at the first sight of snow but I found the people a lot less service-minded here, who seemed genuinely pissed off by questions asked to them....
