Will the immigration people call us second time in case we didn't answer the call for the first time. or can I approach immigration asking the status of my application. ??

I have applied for partner visa in feb 2016, it was rejected stating that the documents were not sufficient to prove our relation is genuine and stable. My husband is in NZ on level 8...
