When we were there we were told that the noses were broken off because later it was believed that the spirit could escape through the nose. Whether this is true or not I don't know. :unsure:

Here in France a good percentage of particularly public toilets are shared. I still cringe when I have to walk by the back of a man peeing to get to a stall. :blink:

We have been involved with renovations here in France and I don't think we would ever have any building works done in the US. Outside of course if we would want to change the kitchen or bathrooms or...

Thank you Pulaski. We had a serious problem with a general contractor here in France when we started some work years ago so after this we started dealing directly with builders for further work...

I am really surprised to read this. I thought that only happened here! In fact I have said quite a few times this would never happen in the US. Looks like it's a global problem with builders....

I agree. Chinese food also is quite different to the Chinese in the UK and US.

Nutek, I'm not keen on British bacon. France has US style bacon but a breakfast with bacon at a restaurant is not...

Haven't been to a Taco Bell in many years but would love to have one near me! There are so many wonderful Mexican restaurants now in Alabama when I visit there is no need for a Mexican fast food...

It appears Alabama is one of the only states still fighting Gay marriage so not sure it will happen there very soon.

You are probably right in that perhaps I have changed more than Alabama but...

That must be it, just not used to seeing them. They really are awful, as mentioned the strip club ones as well as the injury lawyers just seem a bit much.
