Try using Hoxx add on for Chrome and firefox. Quite a few Canadians use it. also , TVCatchup - Channels (http://www.tvcatchup.com) for most UK channels. no VPN needed currently. Works well here.

The first time you use hoxx for iplayer, clear your cache - BBC may have set a cookie on your system- then use UK server via hoxx and away you go! I watched Andrew Marr and the subsequent two...
