It depends wheere you start. If you speak no language other than English, then any new language may be a struggle.

Understand the basics - get those nasal vowel sounds right, understand the REASON...

I have to disagree. Portuguese has fewer dialectical variations than English and a smaller range of accents -it is amazingly homogenous, allowing for the variations imposed by the new orthography,...
