The trees that burned, especially the pines are knackered anyway now & virtually worthless........ The question is, what will they plant in their place?

As I see it, you're both partly right & partly wrong.......

I've got my doubts that it'll ever happen (to say the very least) ........ but think the idea is to cut the trees & clear the land of...

It has nothing to do with "continuous large forests" & everything to do with preserving lives, homes & livelihoods & FAR better some lose money than the innocent lose EVERYTHING including their own...

If I sound bitter........ it's because I damn well am!

11 people which is 33% of the permanent population died in my village & 50+ more within 5km of it to say nothing of a large number of...

It's not about deforestation......... it's about keeping people alive.

There's no suggestion every tree in the country be felled just those ones that endanger life and/or make escape roads such...

My guess is they won't enforce it....... The National Govt seem to have put the responsibility firmly on the local Govt who don't have the money to do it.

Nor are the land ownership records...

They can't come down on anyone until about mid March at the earliest this year but it could well be that landowners know what's coming if they don't cut before then.

Clearing the land is also to your benefit because a fire can come from the neighbouring houses to yours just as easily as from you to them so perhaps you should consider it as part of your own fire...

Or perhaps another way of looking at it is that it might prevent or at least reduce the appalling loss of lives, livelihoods, homes & livestock next time around?

It won't have anything to do with boundary fence as such but rather the distance from the boundary (fenced or otherwise) to the complainants buildings....... not necessarily his house but rather his...

Dependent on exact situation/number of factors he might be able to ask for anything up to 100m & if there is a upward slope from your boundary to his buildings possibly even more.

Rules vary dependent on whether it's trees (dependent on type) or other things but assuming you're talking garden as opposed to something like commercial woodland you're...
