I picked up scrapped $1500 bean to cup machine off Ebay "Badly Leaking" spent $10 on new seals and it works great. :-)

British roofs are rarely covered with plywood. The usual construction is trusses and laths to support the tile system, which is usually clay, rarely concrete, and occasionally real or synthetic slate.

Take a look at the pads under the deck. DJ they go through the slab, or sit on it ?

Yes, a good HARD POINT saw is fine, or even a hacksaw, but really, Harbor Freight witll have a handheld cordless that will work fine.

There is some silicone self-amalgamating tape that works wet you could use, I found it in home depot here, in their roofing department

Not heard of them, but can appreciate the idea. Ours will probably need doing in the intermediate future, unless I get this mossicide on it pronto.

Possums are great. They aren't dangerous. Our cat gets on very well with the local possums. Keep possums around, because they love eating ticks and other bugs.

I've used Sketchup for professional work. There are thousands of often free extensions to render the work photo-realistically, you don't use the native render except for a rough look.
