I understand. But it's only a visitor visa, and even if it was a permanent migration visa there's nothing in your record that would exclude you from Australia.

All you need to do is answer all questions honestly. If the card asks if you've ever been convicted of a criminal offence, and your assault charge resulted in a criminal conviction, answer yes. ...
