as you are in HK you may wish to approach HSBC who have there offices in makatii they may be able to convert any local currency cheques into US$ and send by Electronic transfer

I know nothing about this.

Can the check made payable to you not be sent to you. Yes your bank in the Uk would then have to send it for ''collection'' or'' negotiation back to the Philippines...
