Pete yes it is a curious situation. Some town houses are freehold!! whilst majority will have some form of leasehold/commonhold arrangement.

Chris I take it that this will be in your partners name who is a Filipino citizen? foreigners cannot hold freehold land but they can own a house sitting on the land etc.
