It was a third party shop. I am no longer surprised - I have been misinformed at several stores now. I have stopped trusting anything anyone tells me at any of them and will rely on my own smarts....

Have just found that Staples sell unlocked phones. Not many, but a few different ones, so might have a look at that. I am still dragging my heels, partly because my husband still hasn't got his...
