Oil fell $1 per bbl but up recently due to decreased North Sea output and concerns about ME - Assad etc.

Funny thing is that while oil went up 2009 - 2011, it has been falling since early 18 months so this inflation in your prices is domestic based.

I've noted that in Australia where I can buy 1kg of plain flour for 95c, or a loaf of bread for $4.83.

I think what shocks me more is the % increase in the last few years, rather than the unit price.

We use litres here, so I used a conversion tool on the internet to turn litres to US gallons. I think it was 3.79 litres to a US gallon.

I read yesterday that petrol was $1.85 in 2008, but is $3.59 now. Can that be right? That is massive inflation. If it makes you feel any better we pay $4.90 a gallon. The dollars are the same value...
