I had to Google. The son in question supports his father and has the same beliefs so it wouldn't have even become a question for him.

You're missing the point here. Josef Mengele was Rolf's father. Rolf knew this, still used that surname, knew all the time where he could be found yet never told. he knew that Germany and Israel...
