Re: The Cricket Thread

Yes, I've just posted the Cricinfo Report in BE's General "Locker Room" section. What an amazing result!

A bit of a conversation-stopper, Beoz. Why so antsy? Take it easy, man. Be nice.

Re: The Cricket Thread

It certainly seems so! I must say I'm glad to see India doing so well, because they don't always succeed outside the sub-continent - but sheesh!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Here's a question about commentators - online ones, mainly, but TV ones too, I guess. Why do they almost always say irritating things like "He [a bowler] would have had two more wickets if he hadn't...

Re: The Cricket Thread

One memorable moment, in a pretty boring match... The Barmy Army in full voice singing "Jerusalem", with Joe Root (fielding close to the pitch) mouthing the words along with them.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Well, I don't have a dog in the fight, so I just enjoy a good close battle without caring who wins.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Again Cricinfo Aust v NZ - and again a very close game. Williamson doesn't seem to be arranging his bowling options at all skillfully. Oh, Boult has just got Cummins, but as I write, there are 32...

Re: The Cricket Thread

I've just been following on Cricinfo the ODI in New Zealand. This young Stoinis hit one of the best innings I've ever even heard of. Sixes and fours became routine. The last wicket partnership of 54...

Re: The Cricket Thread

Very pleasing! I was following it on Cricinfo too. Miller is a wild man when he gets going, and the young fellow Jehosephat or whatever his name is did fantastically well. A wonderful partnership.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Yes, of course - although a charge of "choking" is normally applied to a chasing team. Pathetic, both times - and with more to come, I imagine.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Back on the topic of cricket, South Africa have choked again in the tri-nation ODI competition here in the West Indies - losing their last seven wickets for 41 runs against Australia. Hopeless!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Yes, it is sad to see. I very much favour splitting the Test-playing nations into two divisions, with one team relegated from the first division every couple of years and replaced by the top of the...

Re: The Cricket Thread

You're spot on, Grumps. In my observation, the Australian cricket team is not at all popular overseas. Mostly for their sledging, of course, which is just plain low-class. Bad manners tend to stick...

Re: The Cricket Thread

Not "a" series, but this series. In my opinion, the successes of both sets of bowlers - in this series - are less predictable than usually. Nothing to warrant sarcasm, surely.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Both sides are inclined to be erratic - with individuals have their "on" days and "off" days. In Australia's first innings in the last test in the West Indies, Smith was the only successful batsman...
