Re: The world of automation

Nah, corporate greed did.

Back in the day even a branded t-shirt cost $50 but had the "Made in USA" label to make up for it. Some years later it was $75 and was manufactured you know where at...

Re: The world of automation

Sure, in Shenzhen, Henan province, etc. :)

In fact America's economic situation can be attributed to the great betrayal of the American worker by the corporations. The void they've created by...

Re: The world of automation

Impressive work. And picture quality is remarkably good too for what I understand to be a built-in camera?

Re: The world of automation

This will be interesting. I just hope that Chrome OS isn't affected in any way in desktop form as it's a great system. And personally I don't like Android much, so all I'd like is to maybe use...

Re: The world of automation

The limitation isn't the whole browser thing or needing to be online all the time - those are all urban myths that defy logic. Like which computer doesn't need to be online to do... online things...

Re: The world of automation

That would be a bit comical to be honest as these devices aren't even in the same category.

When my wife's second Macbook Air gave up the ghost we looked at all sorts of solutions to replace it...

Re: The world of automation

IOS is a good system, perfect for tablet use. It's not meant to replace a desktop though.

W10 as in Windows? Thanks but no thanks, I've made by break from Windows years ago and have no intention...

Re: The world of automation

How much have Samsung shares tanked over this? Sheesh!

The iPhone or iPad is way ahead of all this Android junk, both in terms of hardware as well as software. Even Android fanatics will admit...

Re: The world of automation

Are you sure you don't mean Samsung? :) Last time I checked people were rushing to return their phone. I think I...

Re: The world of automation

Maybe an entity like the Wikimedia Foundation could take on such a task?

Just thinking what they could do to generate at least a bit of revenue for the simple purpose of sustainability - maybe add...

Re: The world of automation

Firefox rose to fame without a Mozilla OS, simply because people wanted an independent browser instead of IE.

Masses of people would likewise ditch Google if a major, trusted entity came out and...

Re: The world of automation

Almost everyone I know uses Google simply because of any combination of the following...

1. it's a well-known brand
2. it's the default search engine
3. they use an iPhone/iPad (same as #2)
4....

But if a big entity like Mozilla were to launch its own search engine with no...

Ironically they are technically the easiest company on the planet to put...

Re: The world of automation

I really don't get Walmart. Aren't they one of the biggest corporations on the planet in terms of market capitalisation, and yet some of their workers have been subsidised by... the gov't?!?!

Re: The world of automation

No, it's basically taking income from one person and giving it to someone else. So a licensed driver loses a customer, an unlicensed customer gains one for less money... and Uber gets a piece of the...

Re: The world of automation

But they haven't actually generated any extra income. They've just taken income away from licensed drivers and passed it onto unlicensed drivers.

Kind of like saying that the gov't has given over...

This really is all heading in the wrong direction. Truck drivers, postal workers... heck, even fighter jet pilots trained in dogfighting tactics are apparently soon to be obsolete as well.

Before...

Re: The world of automation

I don't see drone delivery being very popular anytime soon. Where are the darn things going to land? It's not like they'll set themselves down on your doorstep and leave a heavy package. Unsigned at...
