Re: How good a company to work for?

No idea. Oil Technician? Check because on some visa categories you can't bring family over. Normally engineers and similar professional categories are ok.

Re: How good a company to work for?

That is ok. Scanned copies are ok provided they are certifies by KSA embassy. If they are not certified by KSA embassy then I am afraid your visa is not going places at the moment.

Re: How good a company to work for?

Try to figure out what are they applying for.

Ideally, they have a block visa for you (matching your education and nationality) and are now applying for your work permit. In that case you have...

Re: How good a company to work for?

What is the status of visa? You need to do a lot of follow up now. Don't hope for the best, follow up is mother of all activities in KSA. Leave it to them and it may sit on somebody's desk for weeks...

Re: How good a company to work for?

We did not think it will go that fast but perhaps we should have advised earlier. Do not give notice until you have work visa stamped and airline tickets in your pocket. Many agreements fall through...

Re: How good a company to work for?

You won't believe it but my wife went to a theater show in KSA! so I had some time for a fine rant. :D

Mind you this is Jeddah and there is less to do in the East.

Re: How good a company to work for?

Guys, there is one more important observation to be made. The West is in decline. This is the case with bulk of EU, US and to a lesser extent Canada and Australia. Most of EU and the US have been...

Re: How good a company to work for?

This is the problem. HRs do 'benchmarking' versus Iqama profession and often do not account for what the person will actually do and come up with silly results. First offer to me was stopped as well...

Re: How good a company to work for?

Those working in a sector severely affected by the downturn, who still have mortgage, kids and other bills to pay, perhaps this luxury isn't necessarily there.

Re: How good a company to work for?

My wife is having a great company in the compound we're in. It was a lot less so in the previous one and we were lucky to get in here. Makes all the difference.

I am on a snr manager level in...

Re: How good a company to work for?

Yep.

The only thing you should consider is your wife and what she's gonna be doing all the time. A good compound with good crowd and no issues. Failing that, it is going to be misery for her...

Re: How good a company to work for?

Perhaps this is the case in construction. I am not seeing this in energy business but I could be wrong.

Re: How good a company to work for?

For a western expat, Saudi is NOT the place to come for liver healing.

Re: How good a company to work for?

In any case, I would only move to UAE if offered the same income, not on a smaller income as I do not see the inconveniences of KSA bad enough to justify 20% or so drop in income.

Re: How good a company to work for?

Nah.

The laws are made up as you go along around ME, there is seldom a predefined outcome. It depends how the judge feels on the day and whom you pissed off.

I can't find any spare time in my...

Re: How good a company to work for?

This is great if you were on GBP70k and a lot less so if you were on GBP30k.

Standard. 9.5 hours a day is standard here as it includes 3 prayer times (which you will work through) and a lunch...

Re: How good a company to work for?

Regretfully the HRs are stuffed with local dummies so hence this nonsense about getting a form to fill in to tell them your current salary. I also work for a multinational and as far as the...

Re: How good a company to work for?

I find the previous salary to be largely irrelevant especially when changing continents. It is the meeting of your expectations and their budget that matters.
