Glad it's not just me. It's what makes us stand out as British isn't it? I just don't do black coffee at all..... Is there anything else I could order that would be acceptable?!

Thanks girls! My UK shopping list is gradually getting smaller and smaller... just wish I could get Tetley tea bags at a reasonable price here!

I've been looking for cornflour (to use as a thickener in gravy and also to dip tempura in) but have been unable to find it, and my english packet is getting low..... does anybody know if you can buy...

One of my regular quick and easy dinners used to be smoked salmon and prawns stirred into creme fraiche and mixed through pasta.... have tried it with the panna here but it's a bit too rich and...

Yep. Will do that again..... we ate every bit with no parmesan needed. It was Marsala not brandy cos I didn't have my glasses on when I went to the drinks cupboard!!! Thank you! :cool:

Thanks all. I'll have a try and let you know.... I will fry some mushrooms with maybe some onion, garlic and thyme, add a splosh of brandy, then a few blobs of marscapone and seasoning. Not sure...

I think I must live in the back of beyond here. I've never seen leg of lamb here at all. They have bits all chopped up like you get for bollito - and even the beef is all cuts for long slow cooking -...

If I was any better at speaking Italian, I'd ask my butcher for a nice leg of lamb..... why can you buy hearts, brains, tripe, lungs, trotters etc etc in the supermarket but you can't find a decent...

I did bring the currants and the suet back from the UK (cos we like dumplings as well), but I believe you can use grated frozen lard or margarine in place of the suet - it's only fat after all!
