Dutzee is right, but that doesn't necessarily contradict what you are doing.

I bought very cheap (four figures €) and have had quite a bit of work done but have done quite a lot...

Unless the existing wiring is relatively new, it may have been extended/modified unprofessionally – particularly in Hungary. Rewiring by an approved contractor will give you safety,...
